Stork’s Nest – design that tells a story

A unique playground has emerged in the center of the popular visitor area Nestville Park, becoming an unmissable landmark. The goal was to create a playful space that would reflect local identity, support children’s imagination, and at the same time enrich the area’s offer with an attractive and photogenic dominant structure.

The dominant element of the playground is a pair of monumental wooden storks sitting in a nest, which is fully accessible and interactive.

Design that tells a story

The heart of the entire playground is a raised play structure in the shape of a stork’s nest, which can be reached via climbing nets, rope bridges and tunnels. The inside of the nest hides mesh relaxation areas, shelters, lookouts and entrances to slides. Everything is designed to stimulate curiosity and offer children opportunities to move, play and relax.

The giant storks are not only a visual focal point, but also serve as tower play elements with access ladders and slides. Their bodies are hand-shaped from solid wood with an emphasis on detail, proportions and craftsmanship.

The surroundings of the nest are complemented by thematic accessories: wooden reed stalks, wheat ears, butterflies, a rope pyramid and various types of swings. The overall scenery evokes wetlands and meadows in which storks naturally nest.

Natural materials and durability

The playground is made mainly of acacia wood – an extremely durable material, ideal for outdoor use. Acacia is hard, naturally durable and has an organic look thanks to its pattern. Each element was made in our workshop, individually processed and treated with a gentle surface treatment.

We also used maintenance-free steel-reinforced ropes, rope nets and bridges that meet the highest safety standards. The playground surfaces are a combination of shock-absorbing cast rubber surfaces and natural mulch – creating the ideal compromise between safety, aesthetics and sustainability.

Safety and certification

The entire playground is designed in accordance with the European standard. Each element has undergone a static assessment, safety testing and final certification. We focused not only on the strength and durability of the structures, but also on details such as the height of the railings, the transparency of the nets, the fall heights and ergonomic dimensions.

Each element of the playground – from rope bridges to slides to railings and platforms – has been designed in accordance with the requirements for: maximum fall height and determination of a suitable impact surface, accessibility and safe access (height of steps, handrails, entrances), protection against entrapment of body parts (head, neck, torso, limbs), minimum width of passages and safe spacing between structures, visibility and clarity of children’s movements for supervising persons.

More than just a playground – an experience to remember

From day one, Stork’s Nest has become a favorite spot not only for children, but also for parents, visitors and photographers. Its distinctive shape, strong visual concept and the story it tells make this playground a unique place that stands out from the usual standard of public play areas.

This project is not only a testament to our craftsmanship, but also to our ability to create places that connect experience, movement and local story.
